Training of our Horses

All horses sold at Bay Breeze Estate undertake a strict training program that is performed within an onsite training facility as well as out on the hundreds of miles of protected trails in the Long Island Pine Barrens Region and in our hunt country. The primary goal of every horse's training is to care and teach them to be respectful of the rider and ultimately be able to do multi-disciplines such as: fox hunt, hunter pace, and trail ride and show with a horse that's safe!

Training is always positive but firm with plenty of work on the ground. When the horse becomes supple on both sides, he will then learn basic dressage, followed by gymnastics and jumping in a ring. They are also taken out into hunt country and trail riding with other horses and alone for confidence building.

My love for the sport of riding with hounds and my love for horses lure me to do what I enjoy best . . . making them a good mount. I've been hunting for many years and have whipped in, laid the fox scent, lead the field and excercised the hounds on many occassions. I'm a senior member of the Hunt.

Every horse will have fox hunt experiences in all parts of the field, including hilltopping. My horses will also take part in local and adjacent Hunter Paces with recognized hunts. My dogs will join us on different terrains of trail to get them used to hounds under them. The horses are trailered out extensively. All horses will self-load. Some horses will have been exposed to Parades and/or civil war reenactments. They will be trained to work in a round-pen, dressage rings and hunter-jumper rings. They will also have extensive cross country riding experiences with Rock walls, ditches, water jumps, natural log jumps & Timber jumps. After their extensive training, the horse will become available for sale to the right purchaser who can provide the best home. All horses will be ready to do whatever job you pursue. If their ad says "Bombproof", it is!

If you see what you like, you may inquire about pricing and reserve a horse until the training is complete. Some horses will take less time than others. All horses will have important information going with it such as feeding, shots, worming, shoeing, and any other important information needed to take on their new friend. I will give the new owner a written biography on the horse with a full set of instructions. It's important to match up the horse with the rider to secure a long safe future together. The more you know about the horse the more comfortable you will be in the saddle. Once the horse is ready to market and advertising kicks in, they do not last more than 30-60 days. These are rare & unusal horses as they will have experiences beyond the norm which make them extremely desirable. I spend countless hours with them and know and understand them and will make your life easier too as I will tell you the truth if they are a match for you or not! If you see what you like . . . please call or email us. Videos will always be available and this website is very up to date.

Approved prospective buyers are welcome to hunt the horse and cap with the local Hunt. The honorary secretary must be telephoned by the capper and a capping fee will apply. A fee will also be charged for the use of the horse and it will come off the purchase price at time of sale. A general release of liability will be signed by rider at this time releasing the owner and the hunt of liability as foxhunting is a sport not without its risks. At time of sale, I can provide purchaser with quality professional shipping arrangements as well as insurance carriers.

I do not rent any horses out nor do I send them on trial. There has been exhausting amounts of time and care given to these horses with an explicit training program adhered to. These are quality horses that are sound and to leave them with a stranger is not an acceptable option. If you have a trainer, please have them contact me first.

Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments. Thank you for taking the time to look at my site!
